Connecting with Collections Symposium

Rebecca Wade (a recent graduate of a PhD programme, and current Associate Lecturer, at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies) will be one of six post-doctoral researchers to present their new research projects at a one-day symposium in Cambridge this September.  Between January 2013 and September 2013, the six researchers will have led individual AHRC-funded internship projects at six museums and collections across the University of Cambridge Museums.

Rebecca’s paper, 'Casting Brucciani: Death Masks, Tightrope Walkers, Boxers and Murderers', focuses on one of the makers of the plaster casts displayed at the Museum of Classical Archaeology, Domenico Brucciani.

The six projects are part of an AHRC Connecting with Collections initiative that aims to transform access to the exceptional collections and research resources of the Cambridge University Museums.  The Connecting with Connections symposium will feature papers from each of the six early career researchers who will highlight the outcomes of the six projects.

The AHRC-funded programme incorporates a range of disciplinary approaches and outcomes. In addition, the early career researchers are engaging in public talks, education workshops, outreach, open days, digital blogs, presenting conference papers.  Each is curating an actual and/or virtual exhibition of their research.
