Saturday 21 February 2015

Medieval Studies in the Digital Age is a seminar and workshop series at the University of Leeds, intended to encourage cross-disciplinary exchange among scholars who currently use or are interested in using technological tools and techniques for their research.

This workshop, led by Tony Harris (University of Cambridge), will begin with a primer on digitisation looking at questions such as: ‘What is “resolution”?’, ‘What do we really mean by “colour” in the digital space?’, ‘What happens when I “scale” a digital image?’ and, ‘What digital images will display and print correctly?’. The workshop will then discuss particular problems and solutions associated with the digital capture, storage, manipulation, and digital reproduction of medieval resources. You can read more about the workshop on our website.

The workshop will take place at the Le Patourel Room, 4.06, Parkinson Building, University of Leeds from 10am-1pm. Everyone is welcome but spaces will be limited so we kindly ask you to register via Eventbrite.

See here for the full programme of events in this series.

The Medieval Studies in the Digital Age Seminar and Workshop Series is organised by: Kivilcim Yavuz (Institute for Medieval Studies) Victoria Cooper (School of English) Elizabeth Stainforth (Centre for Critical Studies in Museums, Galleries and Heritage, School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies)
