Relocation

Relocation is a new project from MA Arts Management and Heritage Studies students, which showcases the unique heritage of the building currently under renovation as the new home for the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies.

From 2016 the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies will be relocating to a fully refurbished 100-yeear old building on University Road.

The University is investing £7.6M to create a first class inspirational learning environment, bringing together the school’s constituent parts onto a single site at the heart of the campus.

The new building will offer students the opportunity to study in an impressive modernised environment including high end studio space, fully equipped workshops, a multi-purpose gallery space for development of curatorial practice and visiting exhibitions plus a large student common room.

The School's aim is to be at the centre of an outstanding research university, developing a research culture that will place us as a leading centre for art, heritage and critical humanities and culture in the UK. The new building will help us retain and attract the best research staff and enable them to work more collaboratively to develop new initiatives and funding opportunities.

By investing in a space for art and culture at the centre of our campus, we can meet our ambitions to continue to increase knowledge and opportunity, and to continue to improve student experience and develop world leading research.
