Art Gallery and Museums alumnus turned V&A Assistant Curator back in Leeds for ‘Rapid Response Collecting’ event

Date

Art Gallery and Museum Studies alumni Kristian Volsing, is returning to Leeds on 6 November as part of Pavillion’s Kristin Volsing// Rapid Response Collecting event.

As part of his role as Assistant Curator with the Contemporary Architecture, Design and Digital department and the V&A, Kristian has been working on a new strand to the V&A’s collecting activity, Rapid Response Collecting. Objects are collected in response to major moments in history that touch the world of design and manufacturing. The evolving display shows how design reflects and defines how we live together today, with new acquisitions raising questions about globalisation, popular culture, political and social change, demographics, technology, regulation or the law.

Other recent projects Kristian has worked on includes T-Shirts 101, a display on the history of the T-shirt he curated while working in the V&A’s Fashion and Textiles department. He is currently working on the forthcoming exhibition All of This Belongs to You, on the role of the museum in public life.

The event is on 6 November 6–7.30pm at Maschio Hair & Beauty and programmed to coincide with Audi Fantasy, a new Pavilion commission by artist Gintaras Didziapetris.
