One year contract, 37 hours per week

Salary YMT Scale 4, point 18 (£18,869) to point 21 (£21,031) per annum

York Art Gallery is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced graduate to support their Senior Curator and the wider Art Team in curatorial duties relating to the Fine Art collection of York Museums Trust.

The Grade II listed York Art Gallery, which is due to re-open in 2015 following an £8 million development project, is being transformed to create an exciting ‘must see’ venue in which to access our world class collections of fine art and ceramics, and to experience the best in historic, modern and contemporary visual art through a vibrant exhibition programme. 

The successful candidate will help to prepare for the ArtGallery’s re-opening and beyond.  They will also assist in all areas of collections and loans management, and with research and interpretation of opening displays, guide book, leaflets, and other projects.

Candidates must have a degree in an appropriate subject, and at least one year’s experience of working with Fine Art collections.  In addition, they will require excellent communication and time management skills and have a flexible approach regarding working hours.
