Women of Achievement Awards 2016 - Roll of Honour

Date

PhD student Jade French has been highly commended as part of the University’s 2016 Women of Achievement awards.

Coinciding with International Women’s Day on 8 March, the Women of Achievement awards recognise the significant contribution and impact that women – both staff and students - have made across the University and beyond.

Jade French, from the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, made it to this year’s Roll of Honour list for winning the 2015 #BeACritic competition to find the best emerging arts critics in the North-West region of the UK.

Jade said:

“Winning #BeACritic was fantastic and I am delighted to be recognised by the university via the honours roll list. The competition has really developed my writing and I am about to begin a writing residency with The Royal Standard, an artist-led gallery and studios in Liverpool.”

Dr Abigail Harrison Moore, Head of the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, said:

"We encourage all of our research students in the School to be involved in partnership work and to develop a whole range of skills alongside their thesis work. Jade has worked incredibly hard and it is excellent to see that this work has been recognised not only through the #Be a Critic competition but also as part of the Women of Achievement awards. We are very proud of her successes."
